Julie Ross considers herself a surrealist. She loves creating unusual, humorous combinations of images in response to some form of narrative.
In a surrealist fashion she has created works around the stories of Alice in Wonderland, Aesop’s Fables, Noah’s Ark, Creation, Evolution and a LOT of Rabbit works playing on the words Hare/Here/Hair and Hear!
For 17 years, Julie taught Art at High School level. During this time she was predominantly a printmaker, exhibiting wood-cuts, dry-points and zinc-plate etchings. In 2010, she resigned from teaching and completed a Masters year in Painting at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch. During that time she also experimented in sculpture and had some clay figures cast in bronze for her show titled Alterpeace.
